The Old-disc Jockey has done it again! This is Volume Two featuring his
magnificent touch in audio restoration. John
Worthington, of course, is the grand patriarch of the CKUA family. With
his start in 1949 as part time announcer, then Program Director, and on as Station
Manager for a few decades, he has provided vision, vigour, wise counsel and rock
solid steadiness. In 1974 he returned to his first broadcast love by taking the
helm of the Old Disc Jockey program, and as the years ticked by he added a verbal
hyphen to the pronunciation of that show title, making it The Old-disc Jockey. He
remains an inspiration today, through discussions around the turntables and microphones,
throughout the halls, and mostly through his broadcasts, and of course these wonderful
recordings. These restored tracks have become pristine again; the sound soaring
from "the grooves." This revitalized music is a gift, and Jack is our
benefactor. Many happy listening hours to us all. Brian Dunsmore Program
Director
