Friday Night Blues Party
The Friday Night Blues Party is a wild ride through the musical landscape of the blues, covering the new and the not so new, as well as the local live blues music scene in Alberta. Host Cam Hayden, Alberta’s first man of the blues, shares his great passion for the music when he’s not aboard his other great passion: a motorcycle. Driving to start your weekend speeding in the right direction, this program offers the latest blues recordings, plus gems from the CKUA vaults, blues news, concert information and a peek at the history of the music.
This is music that fills the hole in your soul… makes you want to dance, jump or shout... and moves you in some way, while staying true to the roots of the blues. The show aims to provide a balance of all the elements of the blues—instrumentation, energy, styles and geographic origins—and bring it all together so listeners can take a guided trip through the blues without leaving their living room. "Everybody loves the blues,” declares Cam. “Some people just don't know it yet.” Drop on by and hear for yourself.
