Brian Dunsmore is a native Albertan; born in Vermilion, raised in Edmonton. He has many family and friends in all parts of Alberta, and a deep love of the province.

He graduated from the Radio and Television Arts program at NAIT in 1972 and worked in commercial radio for a few years. He first applied at CKUA in '72, again in '75 and was finally hired to do weekend morning classical music programs in 1979.

For many years he produced radio programs at CKUA, including Arts Alberta, Between the Covers and the Ragtime to Rolling Stones series - The Long Weekend, From Bop to Rock and the Rocky Road.

Brian also took his part, as did many staff, through the colourful up and down events at CKUA in the late 1980's and 1990's. He became Program Manager in 1994, during the early privatization process, left the station the following year, returning to produce the Folkways Collection in 1998. Brian became Program Director in 1999.

Brian loves CKUA, enjoys the many struggles which take place each working day simply because of the singular nature of community radio in the world, and likes to think he makes a difference.

Married since 1983, he and his partner have three dynamic children and two collie pups. The whole family is musically inclined, and the dogs love to howl...
